Licensing steps

• Prelicensing course completion (good for one year from date of completion)
• Insurance application through www.nipr.com
• AOC background report ordered through https://courts.ky.gov.  Report is valid for 60 days.

 Once all three pieces have been submitted to DOI, you must allow 3 to 5 business days for review and processing.

 An eServices account type of “Individual License Account" can't be set up until DOI receives and loads the insurance application from NIPR.  This usually takes 24 hours from the time the NIPR transaction is completed.  When the application is loaded into the database, it generates a KY License number – DOI #.  Once DOI eServices receives your background check and confirmation you have completed the prelicensing course you will then be able to register for your KY licensing exam. 

CE REQUIREMENTS

• All individual resident agents are subject to continuing education for every major line of authority (Life, Health, Property, Casualty, Variable Life, Variable Annuity, Personal Lines)
• CE Requirement of 24 hours for each CE biennium must be completed by the last day of your birth month, odd or even numbers years, depending on birth year.
• Only approved by the DOI or from the Midwest zone will be accepted as approved credit hours.
• May be classroom, correspondence, or a combination of the two
• A course can only be credited one time during the biennium.
• Three hours must be in ethics course concentration

If your license expires for failing to meet CE requirements, you have up to 1 year from date of termination to complete delinquent hours and apply for reinstatement without exam requirement.
