Candidates Needed for Insurance Campaign Institute
The Big “I” will be launching its Insurance Campaign Institute, a nuts and bolts one day campaign school designed for insurance professionals. On its face, the institute has a simple goal – provide insurance professionals running for elected office with the tools and knowledge necessary to run successful political campaigns. Its greater purpose, however, is to extend the insurance industry’s clout in Congress, in our state capitals, and at the local level by encouraging and teaching industry-knowledgeable candidates how to win races for public office.
The institute will be held in Washington, D.C., on April 20-21, immediately before the 2026 Big “I” Legislative Conference. The training program is comprehensive and covers topics such as campaign organization, fundraising, grassroots, polling, social media and advertising, public speaking, debate preparation, and how to put the insurance community to work for you. The institute will be funded completely by industry sponsorships, so the only cost to attendees will be transportation to and from D.C.
Ideal candidates will be insurance professionals (agents, brokers, underwriters, CSRs, company personnel, spouses, etc.) who have a strong business orientation, regardless of party affiliation. Please give serious consideration to whether serving in elected office is something you might be good at. Or, is there someone in your office who would be a good candidate? If you or someone you know may be interested, reach out to Tara Purvis at tpurvis@bigiky.org.
