Exam

Exam Availability

Your exam will be accessed through the National Alliance's Learning Management System (LMS).  The exam will be available to you beginning at 12:01 am CST on Monday, February 22, 2021, through 11:59 pm CST on Thursday, February 25, 2021.  You will have two and a half hours to complete the exam once you begin.  All questions are essay/short answer.

Exam Proctor

Starting February 1st, the National Alliance will be reinstating our full requirements for proctors for online exams. We had relaxed the disinterested third-party rule due to COVID-19 and will be reinstating the rule with all programs beginning February 1st and after. There are 2 things that will happen:

1.    All exam-takers will need a disinterested third-party to proctor them. The National Alliance has updated the rules and requirements, as well as added 2 "how to" videos on the website at https://scic.com/proctor-monitor-rules.

2.    For CIC, CRM, and CPRM exam takers, the National Alliance will now be gathering your proctor information in your PROfile account on the website, and not inside the LMS as previously done. There is a new PROCTOR button in your course history that you will use to submit proctor information now. The proctor information must be submitted prior to your testing window. The rules and requirements are explained on the scic.com/proctor-monitor-rules page as well.

Exam Proctoring

All online exams require a proctor. In order for someone to serve as your proctor, they must meet the definition of a disinterested third-party as defined below:

  • A disinterested third-party is someone with no direct business or family relationship to you. For example, an agency principal, a supervisor, a subordinate, a friend or family member would NOT qualify as a disinterested third party.
  • Disinterested third-party proctors are available in many locations.  The quickest way to a locate a proctor in your area is to conduct a Google search for “approved proctors near me."  Some examples of a disinterested third party are: a coworker who exclusively works in a training/HR role or a local proctoring facility/testing center. Many libraries and colleges also offer proctoring services.
  • The National Alliance allows MonitorEDU as a virtual proctoring option. You can learn more and access their service at https://scicproctor.com/ at any time.  You do not have to have an appointment.  After you pay the small service fee, you may connect to a proctor on demand.
  • As a student, you should never launch your exam without a proctor present.  The time will begin and you will lose your exam attempt if your proctor is not present.  For more information and to watch instructional videos, please visit https://www.scic.com/proctor-monitor-rules

Submitting your Proctor for Approval

  • In your account at https://pro.scic.com, you will need to submit your selected Proctor's information to The National Alliance prior to testing.  The National Alliance will send exam instructions, including an exam access PIN, to your Proctor's email address.
  • To submit a Proctor to The National Alliance, you will need to log into your account, navigate to your Course History, and click on the button that says Proctor next to your course.
  • If The National Alliance finds that your selected Proctor does not meet the definition of the disinterested third-party as explained above, they may contact you about the need to select a new Proctor prior to testing.

Please watch a short video to help you better navigate the online exam process. Do not be alarmed if the requested proctor information is different than in the video, necessary information varies from course to course.

Exam Tips and Notes

  3. No notebooks, study materials, or cell phones are allowed during the exam.
  4. You may have a blank sheet of scratch paper and a simple function calculator during the exam.  The sheet of paper needs to be destroyed after testing and no programmable or financial calculators are allowed.

  6. The proctor must be in the room during the exam and remain in a location where they can see the participant's screen.
  7. The digital exam has a time clock to help the proctor enforce the time limit.  All exams will auto submit after time expires.  Participants finishing the exam before time has expired are permitted to submit their exam.
